Printing on Dark Garments

1. The Pretreatment Process

  • Spray the pretreatment evenly.

  • Make sure to keep the spray gun 5–6″ for the garment when spraying.

  • Brush lightly with a clean rag in even horizontal strokes to remove excess dew.

  • Remember, you don’t want to take off the pretreatment itself—just the excess dew.

  • After spraying the pretreatment, you have to heat cure the garment to properly set it into the fabric.

  • Lay parchment paper on top of the garment when using the heat press and apply medium pressure.

  • You do not want heat directly on the garment itself.

  • Cure the pretreatment for 10–15 seconds at 350° F.

2. White Printing

  • Remember to set color layer automask in the RIP settings..

  • White resolution should be set to 1440x1440.

  • To create a production run, once the initial print is in thePages to Printer section of the RIP, hold down the CRTL key and left click to select all appliciable layers. Then set the number in your production run.

3. Final Curing

  • Press at 350 for 1 minute per layer. Cover garment with parchment paper and teflon on top of the parchment.
